This icy blue beast is Merecedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive, which made its debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. At 740hp, this all-wheel-drive supercar is the first production-ready electric performance car to come from the German automaker and, coming in with an estimated $540,000, you’ll be paying for every ounce of technology and power infused in it. The SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive has four independent permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors, each weighing in at 45kg and are able to reach a maximum individual speed of 13,000rpm. The battery inside this vehicle is also impressive: a 400-volt liquid-cooled lithium-ion high-voltage battery with 864 lithium-ion cells in total. All that technical jargon boils down to a maximum torque of 1,000Nm and a zero to 60 time of 3.9 seconds. For that extra bit of intimidation, the driver can even select for the typical AMG sound to be pumped through 11 speakers located around the cabin to mimic the gas-powered model. Varoom, Varoom.
